Today's Run: A 10K PR
Though wildfires rage on across California, the smoke seems to be clearing here in Sacramento. No longer does an apocalyptic haze permeate the city streets.
To celebrate the increasingly clear skies, I went out for a run by the American River. It's my usual running haunt and one I never tire of. The dirt and gravel trail skirts the water, acting like a dividing line between the riparian woodland and the urban landscape. It's a liminal space, a place where coyotes trot and red-winged blackbirds fly. If you're lucky, you might see a California sea lion foraging in the shallows of the river.
I ended up running a 10K and set a new personal record for myself. Whoop, whoop! Clocked in at 50:44, averaging an 8:11 pace. Not too shabby.
Lately, I've been listening to podcasts while running, and I'm currently digging into old episodes of the Billy Yang Podcast, which I highly recommend to anyone interested in running. Today, I listened to his interview with Ann Trason. It's an excellent episode.
